Akai GX265D problems

Post by stevenjohnmarr » Fri Jan 08, 2016 1:26 am

Ok so i've got 2 problems with my Akai 2 track and im currently uploading videos showing both that i will post in this thread later

problem 1 : Recording
Cleaned all the heads on it as well as the rollers and used some new old quantegy 456 to record a mix onto and it came out terrible. the vu meters were running fine and the source came in sweet but what recorded was just truly awful. it was incredibly distorted but also hardly there, some times coming in really loud for a single beat and then ducking back down to being really quiet.

ps this machine playsback fine, tried out some elton john tape and a couple others or at least it did playback fine (see problem 2)

Problem 2 : playback

this started after i was trying to troubleshoot the first problem. My right output now oscolates and the vu will be up full but reacts to touch. if i touch the machine the vu will duck down a bit. Don't know why or how this has started happening.
