Tascam M-216 question..

Post by busterbloodvessel » Tue Mar 08, 2016 1:48 pm

This is my first real mixer, and I am loving it so far - but there a few things I'm still not quite sure about, even after reading the manual.

I am recording onto a Portastudio 424 mkII.

I am using the L and R 1/4" outputs from the M-216, and they are going straight into the 424's inputs 1+2. Then, the 424 is plugged into my monitors with the RCA line-outs. (I'm using RCA-to-1/4" cables for the monitors).

Is this fine? I feel like it's almost too easy. Should I be plugging the Mixer into the monitors instead of the 4-track?

You always want to listen to your recordings, AFTER the tape or media you are recording onto.

Then when you are ready to mix, you reverse this setup, so you are listening to the mixer as you are mixing.

So, you are doing o.k.?

I usually get lost when people start yapping on about numbers instead of devices "mixer" "tape machine", etc.

"I hooked up my 438 to my 606, and then split the signal into the 555 sidechain. Once I did this, my ultra 666 recombobulator started making my 1095's output to sound funny".

Yeah...
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.
