Astatic 77 questions

Just picked up a Astatic 77: there was a bunch of stuff rattling around and voila - there it all be.
Anyone have any experise with these? Are those squares supposed to be glued on the magnet?
Is that broken putty part just a stablizer? Can I just cram foam in there to stabilze it now?
Or is there a better way? Does anyone have one of these they can crack open for me and take a pic of? There must be a missing piece, as it seems they wouldn't just seat the magnet with putty...
