Stud wall construction for adjacent rooms in one space

Post by nicholasdover » Tue May 09, 2017 4:40 am

I'm framing a room within room at almost full height (3.6m so as not to connect to the ceiling) in a warehouse space (4m ceiling) which has another small studio next to it in the same space, but only at 2.5m. So we have one wall which is not shared, but directly adjacent with 30cm gap. Since they are not connected do I make this freestanding wall 2 leaf as normal, or since the wall 30cm from it is potentially going to be alive with sound from the other side of it in the small studio (if their soundproofing isn't very good) do I need to make it single leaf? My instinct is that the "leaf" system only applies to sealed spaces in which case the small studio is just the same as any other external noise. I just wanted to check before I made a silly mistake...
I'd add a picture but not sure correct way?
