Loud, Scratchy Hiss at Playback

Post by Jeremy D. Acker » Fri Jun 06, 2003 1:21 pm

:( I am having a serious recording problem, and I need somebody's expertise on this matter. Whenever I try to playback 12 tracks or more from Cakewalk 9.03, all I get is annoyingly loud and scratchy hiss that overpowers all of my previously recorded tracks. I use a Card Deluxe soundcard from Digital Audio Labs with 9.03, and I record onto an 80 Gb hard drive with 512 Mb of RAM. Does this sound like a buffer size problem, or a playback monitor level setting? Help.

If you're only getting this problem when you try to playback more than 12 tracks, that sounds like a buffer problem, which you should be able to tweak inside of your audio card's mixer window.

You should also try defragmenting your hard drive.
