i use www.mediafire.com at work for transfering/sharing podcast edits and other audio. nothing fancy, but it works. i think they may have a 100mb limit per file though.

Don't forget that the audio in/out ports on your mac are S/PDIF capable with the right cable. You would probably be best with some kind of usb/firewire interface, but it's an option to keep open.

i'm assuming that the coles 4040s are going to be in a different league than the fathead, but i don't think you should rule out ribbons if you want that "you are there" sound.
