More RMG woes

started a session on a new roll of RMGI 900 tape......it started leaving light residue all along the tape path.....this residue build up has gotten progressively worse over time......one play through leaves an unbelievable amount of gunk......but there is no audible deterioration in the recorded mat...

yup....there is something real nice about playing/reacting to an ambience, rather than lathering it on after the fact.....kind of like singing inside a grain silo.....

i did a recording with this guy joe mcphee....sax player....he played pocket trumpet into the piano board.....i had an earthworks TC30 duct taped to the back of the soundboard.....also a close mic on the horn.....sounded gorgeous......like reverb....but much more musical....and he was playing to the...
