Re: Digitizing Analog Songs, need suggestion on small, easy no screen options

I've been doing a lot of transfers during the quarantine, from cassette, DAT, reel and turntable. I have been using a Behringer UMC202HD interface (under $100 IIRC). It has a mic/line option and can handle line level signals. I tried my Presonus Audiobox first. It apparently only has mic-level input...

Re: headphone mixer systems

I have the Behringer Powerplay. Couldn't be happier with it, though I have had one mixer go out.

Re: Tascam 388 monitors

I've never used a 388 but have used various TASCAM mixers and recorders over the years. Looking at the manual, I would say that you would connect your monitors to the "monitor out" jacks on the back of the unit and then use the "monitor/ phones" control on the top panel to control the volume of the ...

Re: Attn: Recording Teachers (of teens)

By all means limit their options in the beginning. I find that when they see a multitude of options, they think they have to use all of them all the time (to the detriment of the project). They won't like it, but limit their first mixes to maybe eight tracks with real instruments (drums, guitars, et...

Just picked up nine SM57s, nine tabletop mic stands and seven 20' cables for $225 in an online auction. They were the in PA system for a local town's city council chambers. Look absolutely brand new.

I can't comment on most of them, but I have the Event 20/20 BAS and the KRK Rokit 5s. The Rokit's are great for what they are and the cost, but the 20/20s are a much better speaker.

As for the playback problem, there are four separate places the tape signal can play back, all possibly at the same time. These are the main channel in "tape' position, aux 1/2 in the 'tape' position, aux 3/4 in the 'tape' position and the monitor section in the 'tape' position. Is it possible you h...

I'm hearing at least three trombones. I'm not hearing any french horns. If there are any trumpets, they're on flugelhorn. At least two flutes - doesn't sound like piccolo to me

I used a 520 for a while. Are there RCA ins on the OTARI? If so, go RCA out from the 512 to the recorder, but use as short of a cable as possible (under 20 foot). If only XLR, the best way to get from the board to the recorder would be to use the balanced outs. There are 8 balance amps available on ...

Just was looking at the pic again. Could it be that the two 'tabs' that the lever is attached to have bent outward a bit so the lever is not making good contact? Maybe take the pressure off the lever and then a couple of raps with a hammer on the tabs may bend them down a bit, making better contact?

What is attached to the back side of the lever to lock it in place? I would think there has to be a piece of rubber or plastic. Has it glazed, making it slick? Can you get a screwdriver or something in there to rough the surface back up?

I've never had one break that wasn't at the end, luckily. I invested $10 or so on Ebay for a cat 5 tester and crimping tool and just keep replacing ends as they break. Pretty easy once you've done a couple. One thing I have found is the "boot" covers I used during repairs appear to keep the RJ45s fr...

Thanks. I'll try and see if an update is available. A new version of the Avid Artist drivers did come out recently that fixed a lot of the connectivity problems.

Thanks JWL. I have posted on the forum, but no one has much input. I'll try the support route. Was hoping maybe someone here had the same setup.

Sonar X2/Avid Artist crash

I am trying to use Sonar X2 Studio along with Avid Artist Control and Avid Artist Mix controllers. When opening a project with the controllers enabled Sonar crashes. I discovered I can open Sonar, then disable the controllers, then open a project, then re-enable the controllers and then the project ...
