Re: Bass EQ-ing
I get my best bass sounds by pulling the bass mic back. I never EQ bass anymore I just move that mic baby! I use a Sennheiser 421 and with the bass rolloff somewhere in the middle I place the bass cabinet away from any walls in the room and tilt it back. I usually go about two feet away and point at...

Re: Overhead Mics for Recording Drums?
People give the AKG 3000 a bad rap but for drum overheads they are very nice when you are looking for crisp. I love the sound of teh AKG 414 but I don't have the cash for a matched pair now or the near future. I picked up a matched pair of Rhode NT5s and I am really digging them for cymbals. They ge...

Re: Been All Digital TOOOOOO long..Help me find a new old bo
As a dedicated TASCAM console user I can vouche for the sound quality of the pres in their older boards. The 520, 600, 700 and even the 320 are nice sounding pres with a slight papery quality. The sound compared to my Roland digital mixer is no contest. It's night and day plain and simple. Very clea...

Re: Making a protools mix sound better?
The fastest way to fix a Profools session is to mix on an analog mixer to tape.

Roland digital mixer for sale
Ok, I sold the rest of the stuff but I still ahve this last thing. It's a Roland VM3100 mixer. I was asking $450 but I'll take $350 now if anyone wants to paypal me the cash. I will not go any lower as it is worth that much to me even as extra effects. Specs Audio Inputs (total 20): Channel inputs: ...

I don't know about your particular jacks, do you have a continuity tester?
Better to test the connector than guess.

I'm currently a member of this one, Home Recording Dot Com, The Rec Pit (ProSound Web's BBS) Recording Dot Org, the Tascam Boards and Gearslutz. I might also have subscribed to Harmony Central and the Sound On Sound board. Do I have a problem? Hey Mark, what's your handle on HRC? BTW, you DO indeed...

Re: Soldering Question
On TRS jacks the center most connection is the tip the second out is the ring and the clasp end is the sleeve.

Re: Soldering Question
..wait a sec here..
Are you heating the cable end and then trying to push the wire end to it without the iron on it?
That's wrong. Heat the cable peice and then push teh tinned wire to it with the iron on both peices at teh same time. You will see them melt together and you are done.

Re: Soldering Question
It really doesn't matter which color goes where but as a matter of standard just make the white the hot or tip and the color the ring or low and the shield should always be the sleeve. I don't know why your iron is not working if it is tinning the wire ends it should be plenty hot. Try to heat the c...

Re: signal chain probs...DISTORTION^%^%$*&%
You need to use a much higher ratio for limiting..and a fast attack. Try the highest setting on the ratio and work your way down from there. As far as the distortion goes, why not jsut skip the tube mp for now? Try using the mixer's insert for the composer pro and just the mixer's pres for now. I re...
