Find a used Ensoniq ESQ-1 or something in that family (SQ-80, etc.).
They are fantastic synths in their own right and make great midi controllers too. They can be found on Craigslist for less than $200. I got one for $125 a few years ago and will take it with me to the grave. It is that good.

I got the 9 watt "warm white" Cree bulbs and they perform almost exactly like regular incandescents. There is no detectable flicker or noise. They turns on immediately and produce nice light (in my opinion). The only way they differs is that they glows for about 1 second on turn off. My only regret ...

I just put four of these in my studio: http://m.homedepot.com/p/Cree-9-5-Watt-60W-A19-Warm-White-2700K-LED-Light-Bulb-1-Pack-BA19-08027OMF-12DE26-1U100/203991774 They are pretty amazing. Haven't tried them with a dimmer yet but they seem to be totally silent. The best part is only 14 watts of heat f...

I?m in the finishing process of building out my new one-room studio which doubles as the practice space for my band. Space is a major consideration for the band practice use, so I have been planning on eliminating a desk entirely and doing the following: 1) Mounting my computer monitors on the wall ...

Are you sure your RME won't work? I don't know which one you have but there are drivers for Win 7 that work with my old multiface (hammerfall): http://www.rme-audio.de/en_downloads.php?page=content/downloads/en_downloads_driver&subpage=content/downloads/en_downloads_driver_hdspe http://www.rme-audio...

That's an excellent suggestion, thanks! I had just been thinking that maybe a one-mic solution would be the easiest route. A momentary switch to cut in is a perfect idea and an easy way to kill feedback if it occurs. (Plus I can whip one out from parts in my basement, but thanks for the idea Radial.)

If you're gonna send individual channel outs for each horn channel to FOH, then the effects you have on an aux wouldn't be included. Well, inserts or bus sends depending on what would work given the effects/mixer. I understand gain staging just fine. I brought and ran all our equipment for the last...

Live dub controlled from the stage
Hi all, I know this isn?t exactly the right forum for this question, but I refuse to frequent GearSl*tz. So bear with me or give me a suggestion as to where I should post this, please. The situation is this: I?m in a rootsy ska band with three horns. We?re interested in trying out some live dub effe...

Mini Qtron, Rack chorus
I'm thinning the herd of a bunch of stuff that I'm not using in my current band. Everything works perfectly. Electro Harmonix Mini Q-tron . Some minor scratching on its face. No power supply but runs on batteries. $40 Boss CE-300 Super Chorus . This is a really sweet chorus. I've hung onto it for ye...

This is back into rack mount territory, but the Korg TR rack can be had for pretty cheap and has nice sounds. Might be a bit thin on the mellotron but decent organs and wurli for sure.
I picked up mine for about $200.
Sounds can be heard here: http://www.synthmania.com/TR-Rack.htm
