So, either 1 of 2 things. I don't have refined enough taste for great great sounding recordings, or else, what the fuck is the point? If it's true that those 2 albums were mixed on a ghost, then I for one do not need something better. Maybe that's a relief. Sometimes it is the indian, not the arrow...

That thing is brilliant. I could see hooking it up to the real rig so everyone can get the direct feed into their Ipod. That is the shiznit, no more burning CDs and then converting to Mp3, just a straight feed of 16bit/44.1K...nice. ?? Not sure if I understand you here, but you do know that iTunes ...

Nice score. I ran in to a situationlike that with 2 Altec 436C tube compressors and a couple of Altec tube preamps. They were headed for the dump, I couldn't believe it. I jumped in and said I would give them a good home. The Altec stuff uses "accessory" cans, which are an octal metal plug i...

My apologies all...I saw the statement with $1000 in it in the initial post and took the ball and ran. If you want to be optimistic, then you could break it down to a per channel cost and that would get you in the ball park. I gotta learn to read better. Sorry guys.

FYI, the Cascade Fathead now has an option of ordering them with a Lundahl transformer. I have been really interested in trying these out.

I think tracking on a high end board is more important than mixing on one. Just my opinion. This way you can take advantage of any sonic characteristcs the console pres may impart. The tape return does not hit a pre on the return usually anyhow. Here is an example of a project I did years ago, mostl...

in general, i would avoid anything in this price range that makes a big deal about having a tube in it. Respectfully, I am not sure I would necessarily agree with that. I think if you can find a used Peavey/AMR VMP-2, you are in business. It is a true 2 channel tube pre. If you open the top, you wi...

Here is a link to the article in mix that contains some of what went down during those recordings. There are some things posted on this thread that are either false or half truths. Hope this clears some of them up:
