All of the furman products have the power cable coming out the back, which doesn't help with an enclosed road case. I did see some Edison plugs, but I'm trying to find something that will take up a 1U rackspace and doesn't involve custom panel making. I am buying a knockout 12 XLR panel, and I'm loo...

Need help with mobile rack power

Hey TOMB. Been a real long time. Hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction. I am assembling some mobile rack for mobile audio (a symetrix 12x8 and a break out box, connected by DANTE). I want to put the processor in a 2U rack. I will need to plug that into the venue's power, somehow. It...

VI splurge: Native instruments or reason?

I have Tracktion 5, and what I'm missing are some good virtual instruments: piano, strings, and organs.

I've been tempted to just get a bundle, like Native 10, or Reason 8. Just looking for someone who has used these different products.

58 with a switch, runs to the sidechain of a buss compressor set with a long hold/medium release. not sure how you get the actual audio from the 58 around the buss compressor though, if the compressor is across the main outs.

my motherboard has a ton of monitoring tools, I should see if there's a part of their desktop apps that shows total current power draw (current current :) ).

i recently did a ground-up Win 8.1 DAW build, it's in this forum. I opted for a Rosewill SilentNight 500 watt fanless supply. So, it's totally silent. I am doing onboard graphics and one PCI card for firewire, so not a lot of power draw. no spinny HDs or anything. so it's hard to know what your load...

well, tracktion 5 was supposed to be shown at CES. It's due out very soon. Apparently T4 was a get-me-over update after Jules took it back from Mackie.

Re: Similar issues - similar results

I picked up some of the monoprice xlr cables and one set of headphones based on the TapeOp reviews. I've been satisfied with the headphones, and the cables worked just fine the first several times I used them. I don't record often - less than once per month. The most recent session I noticed that o...

Audiophile/placebo effect

Just came across this on Andrew Sullivan's site. Apologies if it's been posted here. http://www.anxiousmachine.com/blog/2013/12/10/placibo-philes [T]he specter that loomed over everything was the idea that this was all some big placebo effect. I would occasionally spend an evening listening to a son...

he already said he'd updated the HP drivers in the first post. If this is motherboard audio, I might do this: right-click the volume icon in the notification area (lower right next to the clock...from the desktop, not from the apps screen). Select "recording devices" Right Click in a blank space und...

Re: Windows 8.1 audio debacle

So my buddy who is a professional computer programmer updates literally everything on my computer every time he comes over. It's usually pretty great to have a service like this. However, Windows 8.1 was installed and my audio card does not appear anywhere in the device manager. I've installed driv...

Topic: Pitchshifting with MIDI input?

Technically, if it's really white noise, there's no "pitch" in it to shift. But the old Eventide H3000 would do something similar - use MIDI input to set the shift amount. But it was more a matter of using the MIDI input to tell it what interval to shift (up a major third, down an octave, etc). You...
