Thanks Rod! You also may want to consider just a standby switch for it. (Although you will hear others say not to place a tube in standby and still feed it a signal YMMV) You suggest this just for the sake of ease/convenience over the more complicated switching, or is there another advantage? Sorry ...

25 songs, 13 days, all live, no edits
I'm a Krystle Warren fan already, so I'm maybe biased here, but I feel like this project might be of interest to some folks here... seems in the spirit of TapeOp: http://www.youtube.com/user/LoveSongsSessions#p/u 25 songs, 13 days, dozens of musicians, all live, no edits or overdubs. And the music's...

Roberts 770X (AKAI M8) - great deal in St. Louis area
If you're interested in the Roberts/AKAI mods, this has the potential to be a great deal: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160668912320&category=15000&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 "Local pick-up only" in St. Louis, ends in 16 hours. Kinda breaks my heart! I used to live there but don't ha...

Starting my AKAI/Roberts Mod! (Roberts 720A)
Well, a year after finding a Roberts 720A at the thrift store for $10 I'm finally getting started on the 2-in-1 mods. Exciting stuff! If anyone has time for these questions, much obliged... I think these are easy, but I couldn't figure them out: - not sure which Cinemag would be best for the input? ...

Used cassettes...
I have a big pile of used cassettes of varying quality and age (maybe ~100 tapes?)... I assume that nobody wants these, even the art-project-non-profit world must have what they need, and that they are thus destined for the landfill, but I thought I'd see if any 4-track enthusiasts were interested i...

Question-Do the Cilia(? -hairs in your ears) face in (towards brain),or out(facing earhole)? Are they randomly angled? Could it have something to do with air passing out ears/sinuses while exhaling? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereocilia_%28inner_ear%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ear_canal They...

In my defense, I would argue that anyone reading this and then humming while listening who perceives a drop might be subject to their own expectations. I'm having trouble figuring out a "double blind" way of doing this. For sure. That's why i was interested in audio folks' experiences with it... I ...

I wonder if it may be a physiological side-effect, like a change in pressure on the eardrum ... The acoustic reflex is, generally, a physiological reflex. What i'm on about is that they say it's a physiological drop in 20dB, which seems extreme.... do i have my math right? Wouldn't that be a bit mo...

can you go hammer a couple hundred nails sans earplugs, see if humming makes it quieter and report back to us? kthx. In defense of the Wikipedia author(s), i didn't at all get the impression that they were suggesting it as front-line hearing protection, just that they were pointing out that it appa...

Esoteric, almost OT: stapedius reflex (aka"acoustic ref
[Edit: I probably should have posted this in "listening to other music"... ?] Ok, for background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoustic_reflex We all know that prolonged exposure to loud sounds can tire this reflex, resulting in more hearing loss, and that the non-instant reaction time of the reflex...
