I crank my amp. if I need it to be clean, I play softer. Distorted I play harder.

Ive never had a problem. Simply turn up an mp3 of a song you like to turn up and you will immediately get annoyed, frustrated and want to kill things.

keep in mind that is FFT analyzation that is being displayed on a logarithmic scale. That means, there is less resolution the lower frequency that is viewed. It also most likely is not using a proper weighting system. I would suggest going to www.voxengo.com and try the span plugin and you will lear...

and most everything I see mentioned here in all this indie rock stuff. I listen to a lot of music and a lot of the stuff you guys listen to, I personally think sounds terrible. Elliot smith is great though.

I love working without a control rool now. I think if you are relying on the mics and pre's to make something sound right... well. I generally work on getting a great sound in the room, then as we go through practice takes I try different mics/pres. I have a very good idea of what works where pretty...
