Re: Lab Series Guitar Amps
I love the Lab Series L5. It's one of the best sounding amps I've played. Maybe not the character of an old fender but is has huge sack and great tone.

Re: pre aging strings?
Use Vaseline. It worked for Monk Montgomery. I do it sometimes if my strings are too sticky. It'd probably work a lot like chicken grease without being totally f-ing disgusting.
You could also try a foam mute under the strings. Or try flatwounds.

Re: MP3 recorder recommendations
Definitely get a Nomad Jukebox 3. Get it factory refurbished off Ebay for <$200. It has line in, two line outs, fire wire and usb, and records optically or thru a 1/8" jack direcly to a WAV file! I've read the irivers have a lot of digital popping when they record thru their mic in. Some really bad ...

Re: Guitar Players: Most Overrated Solo
If I have to hear that f-ing solo at the end of Layla one more time, I'm going to hurt myself.
Jimmy Vaughan, now that guy can play. Too bad he can't sing or write lyrics.

Re: Guitar Players: Most Overrated Solo
Most things played by Eric Clapton get way overated.
I like the hearbreaker solo. I'll take it over Clapton's pussy stat tone anyday.
Along similar lines of the freebird solo, how about the Allman Brothers? I mean give me a break. Are those guys good guitar players? I don't hear it.

Re: P-bass gonna kill my twin?
A Twin is almost an identical circuit electronically to the bassman (except twice the power). The only thing you might hurt is the speakers. If you place low you shouldn't have a problem.

Aretha Franklin - Amazing Grace. Aretha sings in front of the Southern California Community Choir with Reverend James Cleveland. It's unbelievable.
