Uhm...now I feel like I may be off topic...but I thought that Pro Tools had a way of calculating latency...maybe not LE, but doesn't HD have the capability?

Heck, your cassette deck records...your VCR records...got a minidisc recorder?....the basics are all around you...get a little mixer, learn signal flow, proper levels and how to overdub using what you have....a little imagination can lead to alot of learning.
