I would buy a mac pro 3,1 or 4,1. Youll get 64 bit support and a pretty badass machine for around a grand. I am using a 1,1 machine upgraded with 8 core processors making it a 2,1 and it screams with everything audio I throw at it.

you will either have to use 2 per performer to get them a stereo feed or you can setup the IEM's to get a mono feed each. With shure iems this is called mix mode.

in chicago I always like http://www.modsbydarrel.com/ Or you could learn a bit yourself... the main thing that goes wrong with almost every fender Ive seen is a cap goes bad somewhere. For $50 you could recap the whole ting with much better caps and learn a little something along the way. whats it n...

first, the jumper settings- depends on what you are feeding it. Many inserts are 0dB, most board outputs are +4 unless they are unbalanced. Depends on how you are feeding it. The metering, shows either input or output in green and the red is the gain reduction. The process knob compresses the least ...

FS or FT Ward Beck m470a preamps ready to go in chicago

Great sounding ward beck m470a channels racked by dave thomas. I had dave mod these to run pure class A. They can be switched to A +AB if you want HUGE amounts of gain. Wired for internal psu. Mic/Line switch, low cut at 70 and 150, gain control. Mic and DI input. this was my favorite preamp for bas...

Well, I have them both- tho my lawson fet is an original large body l47 fet. The U87 is thicker but at the expense of clarity. It also may have a bit of honk that you might hate. It is also 35 years old and prone to the problems of a 35 year old mic. It may be an amazing money mic for you. Preamps w...

You have to modify the mic to use p48 but it is cheap to have this done. I believe the north american repair center in canada (C-tech) can do this for you as well as provide any connectors you might need.

It is very rare that a ribbon mic will get ruined by phantom power. It is possible but all the correctly wired beyers, fostex, shure, b&o's, and royers I have used work fine with phantom power. The real problem is when you use an xlr input from a line level piece of gear, say sending signal from one...
