Whenever Business is slow for me i will pick up a local cat and do some work real cheap, between 10-20 an hour. I have charged more, this is just to get my fix (recording) really and 9 times out of 10 they will be very happy, become a returning client, and often tell other friends that I record Chea...

how close are you to the mic, record a take stepped forward, stepped back, angle the mic, repeat. one thing I tell most of the voclaists that come in here is sing through the mic, not into it, making the room, not the mic, your focal point. in most situations it helps. also as far as processing goes...

for an exciter effect, I will duplicate a certain track and on the duplicate, run a high pass filter set high, typically between 5k and 15k, then compress the absolute shit out of it, like a colonic for the first time. works well once in a while, I'm not too fond of maximizers/exciters though. works...

I agree that vinyl is the least environmentally friendly medium for audio. But I love vinyl, I buy it every once in a while, almost always used. But I am going out today to get that new Al Green record on vinyl. Which is excellent, by the way. someone made me a copy of it over a month ago and it has...

The thing about electric guitars is they have a fairly wide frequency range, and its a very discernable instrument, try to give your guitar tracks a rather narrow bandwidth, this will clean up the body of the song so the bass/drums/keys whatever will be easier to hear. also if your bass has a lot of...

I was actually recording some gangsta kids for a while and they would bring girls over, and the girls would leave to go buy them/me/us beer whenever we got low, and there have been a couple times I've been offered some kind of sexual favor from one of them after a quick nod from one of the guys. Thi...
