To me, electric guitars coming from loud amps are already compressed enough by the preamp and then the limiting of the speaker travel. Yep, ribbons. I love how my beyer m260 sits in a mix.

Although channels 1-4 hit the preamp, they work ok as line ins if the 002 preamp gain is kept low. Probably wouldn't sound drastically different than 5-8.
