Re: Joel Moore asks about 5ive style guitar tones

On the debut 5ive Style LP/CD recordings the amps used were a Fender Super Reverb 4x12 combo, and also a 1x12 20 watt vintage Epiphone amp. plus a Marshall half stack with a Les Paul was used but only to generate feedback noise on a track as an overdub. Main guitars used were Fender Telecaster, an ...

I am in New Zealand. A few years ago there were a whole bunch of recording magazines available here......EQ, Audio Technology, Mix, Sound on Sound, Electronic musician. Now there's pretty much only sound on Sound readily available from that bunch. We never have had Tape Op to my knowledge. I have a...

FS: (UK/EU/London) PTHD, Rosetta 800, Mac Pro, TDM Plugins

I think the prices are between fair and rock bottom but if you want more than one item let's talk offers. All items can be collected from London, W3 but I will ship too. PM me if you have any trust issues - I will provide ID, tagged pictures whatever you need. Jules can vouch for me too. Trades I'm ...

I like tarblackvomit's suggestion a lot but how about this: MAXIMISE BLEED. If the room is as big, echoey and parking garage-like as I imagine it to be, try to shift the direct sound to room ratio by just putting everything mega close. Put the bass amp in front of the kick drum, close mic the drums ...

That's my pick!

Drum O/H, snare, tom, HH, acoustic guitar, guitar amp, strings, vocals - you're not going to be complaining too much on any of them.

It's hard to know what to ask him. Judging by previous interviews, BC doesn't seem to know how he does what he does. Not that he's being secretive, more like there is no secret. Ok, so the session was really busy meaning I didn't get to do the landmark BC interview I'd hoped for. I'm pitching Larry...

I really like the old Electro-Harmonix Clone Theory for vibrato, the old big box version - just set it to 100% wet. No idea about the newer version.

Apologies - I have been super busy the last few weeks and it's hard dealing with everyone in a decent amount of time. The bottom line is everyone will get what they paid for, that is without question. I will be working my way through the emails on Sunday and posting out Monday so it won't be long no...

Questions for Bob Clearmountain

I'm going to be interviewing Bob over the next couple of weeks - if anyone has any questions/specifics or details they're interested in - let me know and I'll try my best.

Thanks,
Al

If you have an iPhone or iTouch - Beatmaker is $20 and will do what you need. There may even be a free app that will do what you need. An iTouch might be a more fun way to spend the money anyway?

I've been using Beatmaker and it's really good.

+1 on wanting to see more space layout/ room treatment photos. I like diagrams too; studios, session layouts, how to stack the box on a goal-line stand. I don't care really what it is, I'm just a visual learner, so I like visual support of any sort. Not a criticism, just an observation about how I ...
