Yes, that's the same Rik. They number and email address for that management company seem to no longer be valid. I've called emailed dozens of times. No amount of Google searching has returned any leads, that's why I turned to the engineer community. Someone's gotta know Rik! Thanks, Patrick/Light In...

Looking for Rik Pekkonen
Hey everybody! Trying to track down producer/engineer Rik Pekkonen. I'm pretty sure he lives/works mainly in the Los Angeles area. He engineered the last Ariel Pink album, so I know he was in LA recently. Why? I work with a Seattle-based reissue label named Light In The Attic Records and we're reiss...

Hey "drummer man", thanks for your info. BTW, I followed your studio build on the "Building A Space" forum and loved watching the progress. Hope it's still going strong. I agree that just standing in line at a coffee shop on Bedford Ave in Williamsburg you will likely be in front of and behind someo...

Yeah, I was just joking about that dish washing gig. I have to do enough dishes at home! I did grow up in the restaurant industry so it's always something I can do. That being said, I haven't had to go that route in about 7 years. Speaking of Mac help, I miss the early 00's here in NYC when you coul...

Hi Robert, Thanks for your thoughts. I'm sure that I will have my work cutout for me and that there will likely be a significant wait time before i'm working steadily again (hello dish washing jobs!). I plan on also checking out the live/FOH/monitor mix scene. I do live sound a lot here in NYC to ma...

Sorry it's taken a little bit to respond...no internet at home. Wow! Thanks so much for this very helpful info. Anthony, you went above and beyond the call of duty! I do have some contacts out there, mainly a friend of a friend that works (worked?) at the Record Plant. Not sure his name but maybe yo...

LA studio scene?
Hello to all! I'm considering moving to Los Angeles in the coming months and am not sure what the studio scene is like out there. I currently am a staff engineer at a two room studio in NYC and my experience is with live tracking, overdubs, and mixing (using both tape and DAW). Wondering how hard it...

and hey Roscoe thanks for your blog post about your time being "produced by Jim Dickinson." That's a great story. I don't know that record but will definitely look it up. not sure if you remember but i interned at CTS over the summer a couple of years ago. I had a great time and learned so much from...

Yes this was very sad. My sister, our friend Drew and I have been working on a Big Star documentary for the past four or five years and we had the extreme pleasure of interviewing Jim at his Zebra Ranch. We were in Memphis getting location footage and interviews and at the last minute John Fry (owne...

yeah, I'm not scared of actually taking out and putting in tubes. It's the biasing of the amp after replacing the tubes. Also, I don't have a tube tester so i'm not sure which ones exactly are bad. This amp has two pre-amp tubes (6SL7) and two power amp tubes (7591), all of which are pricey so i don...

DIY vintage amp rebuild/maintenance
Hello everyone I have been thinking about working on an amp I have for some time. I took it to two NYC amp techs and both gave me pretty much the same estimation of what is wrong with the amp (albeit with a HUGH different between the costs for the repairs). Anyway, i'm pretty handy with a soldering ...

I'll defintely look into these leads y'all. Thanks a bunch for the info. We have a lot of really nice things at the studio but no mellorton. the 8 track (MX5050) shouldn't be too hard to carry along and we have two so it should work out. I'll just need to make sure the place i go to can accommodate ...
