If you're working with the demos, then my first guess would be it's a sample rate thing -- most of the demos work at 44.1/48k. (TD5 and the De:Esser demos go higher.) If you've got full versions installed, then I would double check the Plug-Ins folder to ensure that there aren't also duplicate copie...

On further thought I don't think my first answer is the core reason of this phenomenon, though it could partially help account for it. Instead, I think the phase-shifting of the filter simply reshapes the signal and the new signal can and will have different instantaneous peak amplitudes. Imagine th...

A regular digital meter doesn't show the true, underlying analog signal. You would need to use an "oversampling meter" to see the absolute peaks which can be hidden in between the actual sampling points. When you apply a high-pass filter you're also causing a phase shift. The shifting of higher freq...

Some thoughts on Dithering.

A few months back, I gave a short presentation about Dither at an AES meeting in Nashville. People seemed to enjoy it, so I've typed up an extended version here: http://www.smassey.com/blog.html#29_apr_2008

Hey guys, Sorry for the disappointment and anger. My decision is based on something much more fundamental than the issue of a bug or a laundry list of complaints. Yes, I could certainly work through this crash, if given the time, and some research from the Logic team. (Which, by the way, seems to be...

One reason why I did not do the upgrade is because (according to the Digi site) I willl need to change/update my operating system from 10.3.9 to 10.4 ... p. No, CS updates are specifically for working out significant bugs and getting everything settled on the current platform/OS, etc., not to force...

Hi Steve! I dont have the CS. Just plain vanilla 6.9 p. Well, that was my point. You should go download the latest CS. Digi did patch this problem in some CS update for some version -- I just can't remember which. So, it can't hurt to give it a try. It will at least fix something else :) I don't th...

Hi, Make sure you have the latest CS update. I think this problem might have been patched in 6.9. With 6.9 you sort of have the reverse scenario. All the pre-installed plugins are "offenders" and you want to make sure any old plugins are at the top of the filename list, alphabetically. Last, you can...

I really wish though (I hope steven is looking) that there was a gain reduction meter with an infinite hold option ala L2. That way you can see at a glance what your max compression level is. That would make my freakin' day! I upgraded the full version a little while back to include a peak reductio...

Try searching for a DLL called DSPManager.dll -- I think it's installed next to the Pro Tools exe. Check the version #. If it doesn't match your 6.1 version, delete it, and then re-run the Pro Tools installer.

TapeOpCon plug-in promo

Howdy, You may have read the review for a couple of my plug-ins in the latest issue of TapeOp. Well I was coming to the show this year & decided last minute to do a little promo deal for attendees. So, track me down at the show & grab a postcard with a promo code & instructions on how to get a compl...

Howdy, Someone emailed about this thread so I thought I should stop by. The issue with #1 happens when running 7.x-enabled plug-ins in Pro Tools 6.4 through 6.9. As the problem has been explained to me, I think there's a full workaround. I have yet to test this myself, so maybe someone here can veri...
