Great 2 XLR Firewire Interfaces?
Hey there, Back in the day I used to own an M-Audio Firewire 410 I believe, which I thought was OK at best. Back then I had less cash to spend on recording and I kindof fell out of the hobby due to that restriction and my lack of love towards the M-Audio interface. Now that it's been a few years I'm...

Everyone knows that a band who can't come up with 15 or 20 grand to professionally produce and master an album doesn't deserve to be heard, or even call themselves musicians. After all, it's a well documented historical fact that until mankind developed modern recording techniques, humans barely ha...

So I'm thinking about buying a drumset...
I was wondering, since I can't afford everything at once, if it would be a smart idea to try and buy the parts individually, and slowly build up the set over time? Maybe this way it might be a little pricier in the long run, but the quality might be better than average? You tell me. Recommend me wha...

Recording drummer tomorrow with sm57 and kick mic... tips?
What are some good tips I could use to make the most of this small recording session? I'm gonna use the headphone out on this practice amp as his "guitar monitor" while he plays and I record. I was thinking mic the kick drum with the cheapy CAD kick I have, then place an sm57 over the top of his hea...

Help: Sonar 6 won't change track from Stereo to Mono.
I was remixing a song I recorded with a few buddies of mine awhile back, and after applying some PSP MasterQ and VintageWarmer plugins, some of the tracks randomly turned to stereo tracks, and when I click the button to change it to mono it won't change. What gives? Just hoping some of you might ran...

Are there reference guides for mixing each frequency online?
More specifically, I'm looking for something that might have a quick reference to where each instrument should fit in the mix, such as the bass drum taking up only some room around 80hz, guitar should fill in this frequency, etc. I found a reference like this online a few months ago, but I've lost i...

Which interface approach should I choose, PCI or Firewire?
I currently have a small M-Audio 410 interface which only has 2 ins and I'm looking to upgrade to something with at least 8 ins (I've been working on buying drum gear and I bought a mixer as well for it). Now here comes the dilemma. Right now I have a laptop with firewire that works fairly well but ...
