Marshall Head hums

Ok when I turn it on, I can hear the tubes humming, the humming doesnt come from the speakers and isnt affected by changed in any of the controls. I have a DSL 50w. Also the sound isnt degraded at all. Is the slight hum normal? Have I blown any parts or is it just a bad AC outlet in my house?

Thanks

Re: EH : Small Stone

yeah but lets not forget the horrible workmanship of the russian big muffs. The plugs are plastic... the ends broke off so I had to rip them off the baord and solder in wires leading to new metal 1/4" jacks (From radioshack, oh yeah) and the top caved in so sometimes it will ground out and stop work...

Re: plywood floor for drums

anything you do to move around materials will create a different sound. The plywood makes a hard surface but also slighty absorbant. It sounds interesting I want to try. my band records drums in a carpeted bedroom and I have a big garage with a high ceiling, its really good for reverb vocals. Just e...

Boss Compressor

does it have a versitile enough gate control to get the Incubus "Pardon me" swell effect? I've looked at pictures of his rig and I've narrowed it down to the boss compressor, although I could be wrong. Side note: I have a soundblaster PCI512 sound card (The $40 one) and I upgraded to Windows XP from...

Re: upright bass help please

give the guy a break evan

I suggest a pezio pick up instead of the small condenser, that will pick up more of the high frequencies and attack for the pluck.

Re: What is this sound?

Im thinking a bad ground in the circuit would cause some crackling, but I dunno. Try playing thru each module in your studio one at a time to isolate where the noise it. Its probably one bad unit and its noise gets amplified by the others Power conditioners smooth out dips and spikes in the current ...

Re: right channel not working

my suggestion besides maybe you got a lemon and need to send it in under waranty is do you use any 1/4" to 1/8' adapters for headphones or anything like that? maybe you used a mono one instead of stereo. Sometimes when I have a problem like that I get so freaked out by the main peice of equipment th...

Re: Starting Out

circle recording gives a better than decent result. Have the band stand around one overhead mic with the amps pointing at it, so u have the amps and drums in a circle, then give the singer a mic to use. For a total of 2 mics, the quality can get pretty good depending on the type of room you're in. T...

Re: What is this sound?

Im thinking a bad ground or connection somewhere, like one broke off its soldering and is giggling around (Thus giving you the static, and the crackle when it connects) Thats my 2cents edit: is everything plug into the same outlet from a power strip or the same breaker circuit? then it might me a gr...

Re: headphones and mics

the SMs will be some good all around mics to start, and I reccomend any headphones with closed back that are within your price range. Headphones dont give accurate bass response so invest in some nearfeilds and a sub when u can

Phase correction

I know that they have switches to change phase 180 in mixers and stuff but is it possible to have some kind of processor or something to change it a smaller degree using a dial? if its possible does anyone know any product or how to build one?

Re: Vocals R.I.P.

My bands singers strategy was drink something hot before hand during warm up and while you sing drink cold, like a slurpee or something, to stop your vocal cords from being too imflamed
