I don't have any experience doing that. However, I have heard a rumor that the lowly Behringer ADA8000 uses these same converters. Not a reverse engineered version, but supposedly the exact same ones. If this is true, this might be a cheaper solution if you can get over the stigma.

Just an idea. I make my own racks and use wood finishing strips for rails. Has the benefit of not being confined to pre-drilled spacing (I like to leave more space between units for air flow) and you never have to worry about chassis grounds causing a ground loop. Looks cool too.

Orban 424 is thick and can be fun in a slightly sloppy way. Aphex Studio Dominator is also fun in a "slam it against the wall" kind of way. The Studio Dom (the original one, the 700) is actually the most fun on a drum buss, plus it has the exciter type thing built in.
