DIY LED Fretboard plans (Lighted Fret Board dots)

Hey everyone, it's Rick from RickshawRecords.com I've just completed a DIY LED fretboard on a P-Bass, and I documented the process and wrote a short tutorial and video. It's posted on my website: www.DIYRibbonMic.com/ledfretboard Disclaimer: This involves removing the fretboard from the neck. I did ...

Yea - "Learn from my mistakes" is a common theme in my plans.
3+ years of learning from my mistakes has resulted in my plans being easy to follow and the kits being pretty simple to build.

I don't like hassle.

STOP THE PRESSES! DO NOT USE AMMONIA FUMES TO COLOR YOUR BRASS!! [/size] I just did an overnight experiment with a shiny new mic chassis and nicely soldered screen, and the whole thing is ruined. The ammonia turned the Brass extremely brittle, and the microphone chassis literally fell apart in my h...

Wow, I had never heard of these methods to patina Brass. Yes, my Chassis are 100% real Brass. My screens are 100% Brass with a corrosion-resistant finish (Probably a "varnish" as mentioned above.) Here's an image of a few painted chassis I've done recently: http://ribbonmic.rickshawrecords.com/image...

Good question, and I happen to be painting one RIGHT NOW (between coats actually) I have paint on my fingers as I'm typing this! Photos later. You must sand the Brass surface to a "satin" finish, then use a good primer to stick to the Brass. If you use spray paint directly on the Brass, it will flak...

Damb Rickshaw! Does a bat signal light up if some one uses "austin" and "ribbon" in the same sentence? :D LOL. But, no. I only haunt the DIY section of TOMB, and only once or twice a month. I got a a few unsolicited orders over the past 2 weeks, so whenever that happens, I check the boards to see w...
