leedy: what all are you doing in the room? playing? tracking? mixing? ... bass traps aren't going to affect perceived loudness much (except if they're fairly large and also absorb highs/mids, which Lenrds aren't that big)... If mixing or mastering in the room, I'd suggest replacing the Lenrds w/ som...

Ken, if your drums are "too loud", diffusers are not what you want. you need absorption. Go buy some mineral wool or fiberglass and make some 2-4" panels on your ceiling. That would do much better in your case.... mortimersnerdy I'm going to guess around $30. I'd give you a discount (since a tapeopp...

Thanks for the advice Corey.. I'm thinking you're probably right. The other windows in the room will now probably be the biggest culprit and at that point, it's probably fine.

Well peeps, we're definitely going w/ aluminum as an aesthetic preference of the owners... So my only concern at this point is how to fill the frame and what with. ANY THOUGHTS? I was thinking I could either cram mineral wool inside the hollow frame or maybe even sand for greater mass. Keep in mind ...

for anyone in rental places, deal with the owners if you can. sometimes they'd prefer nicer fixtures on their properties than the property managers short term profit aims allow.... in my case, it helps that this place is not just a rental but will later be the owners' actual residence for themselves.

NOTICE, SOME CLARIFICATIONS I don't have the option of using anything but sliders... It's a house that I'm renting. I'm working with the owners choosing some parts that needed to be replaced on the house anyway... This is an EXTERIOR door, the point is to block birds chirping and some highway noise,...

Will MILGARD sliding doors block much sound?

http://pro.milgard.com/technical-detail ... t.asp?p=73

anyone used these? I downloaded the files for STC but they don't list the doors, it only shows specs for windows.

Any thoughts? Also, how much would you all expect to pay for a good EXTERIOR door that keeps sound out well?

UPDATE: All 703s are gone. 16 Metrofusors left! Get 'em while you can! leedyguy, I'm baffled (pun intended) that you found nothing on Metrofusors. http://www.auralex.com/sound_diffusor_metrofusor/sound_diffusor_metrofusor.asp They are DIFFUSORS though, not absorbers. So in a very rough sense they m...

that's actually the former space, the loft. there are a lot of those in chicago, wilco's looks just like it... look at the other albums for the new facility though, a 50s custom home, it's way better vibe.

FS: Auralex Metrofusor Diffusors w/ Auralex foam backing

Thanks for all the feedback. I agree that working on flat rates for mixing does get old quick, can almost make you want to quit cause you have to put up with a ton of shit (usually a band who hasn't recorded much and really didn't give a performance that's equatable to the final product desired). On...
