More importantly than the type of preamp that was used is the fact that the "lead guitar" (i use the term loosely) seems to be playing a different song than the "rhythm guitar" (not much rhythm though). Combined, they form a terrible racket that only the deaf could enjoy.

Tape will always exist as a viable medium to record great sounding tracks. Conventional mixing boards will always exist because they can sound amazing and, lets be honest, they look real cool. So are you guys saying that changing the pase on the UA will have no effect on the output signal? For example: I have a mic coming into the UA and the output is going to an unbalanced patch bay. I want to flip the phase, so I hit the switch and it should change the phase because the switch is effect...

I also think the drums sound great. The toms sound natural and the cymbals are well represented. I agree that the weekest link may be the snare, but that is a reach.

By the way i dig the tune. I really like the singer's voice.
