Thanks for the suggestions! And yes, I'm sure I could totally find some U of M students to come and record, however I don't even have any full songs composed or ready yet. I've been trying to push myself to actually finish songs rather than just do random parts here and there. Once I have a few thin...

Recommend a virtual instrument? cello/violin

The subject pretty much says it. I'm using PT9 and just looking for a good/ ideally cheap virtual instrument that will allow me to get some good string sounds. I'd really like to have some actual instruments to play with, but that's for another time. Any suggestions?

Hey, snowblind. Some of the first things to consider: what is your budget and how many tracks would you like to be able to record at once? Without knowing too much about your situation, a good place to start would be something higher-end than the fast track that will allow you to easily expand your ...

Just a side question, if I may tag on to the thread. Just wondering if anyone could just explain or elaborate a little bit more about the significance of having a higher-end video card? I build my own systems and happen to have a decent card at the moment in my recording computer, but am really just...

Thank you, everyone, for the replies. If anyone is curious to listen to what I'm working with, I uploaded just a little sample of what I worked on last night, with all 3 mics going. It's a little more exciting with the other guitar part, but again this is just some preliminary testing before I start...

Recording guitar amp / room mic question

Hey everyone. Question that I'm sure has already been talked about on here, although wasn't able to find it when searching. I'm currently working on recording some guitar tracks using my Fender Twin. I've got an SM57 and a Senn. e906 a few inches away from the grille, which are aligned and sounding ...

Thanks! I can't wait to go home from work and try to figure out how to play it.

Do you have the reverb set up as inserts on the individual tracks, or on a separate aux track so you can blend a little of each guitar into the same "room?"

Sounds nice, I especially like the guitar sound and I'm more curious about how you recorded the guitars. Makes me want to go home and learn the song myself. It's some weird alternate tuning though, isn't it? Great song.

Nice!

Overall, the site looks great. A couple of suggestions: Upon first impression, it is obvious that the site is for a recording studio, but THAT IS ALL that is obvious. You may want to add a tagline right at the top (or include it in your logo) to crystalize the point of the site. A quick tagline of "...

Yeah, I just used the adat connection to plug into the 8pre input. I was able to monitor all the channels in cuemix. I don't think you'll have any problems - you just plug it in and it works.

Absolutely. You should have no problems. I ran an 8pre along with a mackie 800r and it was smooth sailing. Eventually switched to a focusrite saffire pro.
