Update from the designer who put up the 911 libraries: "Any of the 911s would be suitable. A cab does not change the engine sound."

http://www.sonniss.com/ just put up a bunch of car libraries. Eight different Porsche libraries. Two 911 libraries but neither is a Cabrio--still they may work.

I seem to recall either Sound Ideas or Hollywood Edge has 911s, but both libraries are older.

I started working on DAWs back in 1993, when we'd try to get 24 tracks out of a mac Quadra 950. Crashes were a pretty frequent thing, so I got into the habit of hitting "Save" after every two or three operations. It's pretty much automatic these days though I probably don't do it quite that frequent...

Other singers who have tracked vocals without headphones, using a speaker for reference: Bono (with an SM58, on "Achtung Baby") John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr (using the "White Elephant" speaker - a speaker set to the side of the vocalist, in the null point of the fig-8...

Apologies - way too busy to look at random mics for people. I'm interested in seeing a dead E100 or two because I have five of my own to keep running.
Totally understandable.

I dunno, I've still got some CAD E100 mics and still love them for certain things. Yep. I've got 4 of them, but two have recently died. Even with new rechargeable batts in them.. nothing. I'd be interested in taking a look at the dead ones. Somebody has to be the E100 guru around here. I have some ...

Re: Music For Picture

I mix music WAY quieter than I would for an album. Learned this the hard way too, after stuff was sounding almost inaudible on TV, I went to a friend who mixes for features and he showed me where the music hits on most of his stuff - MUCH lower. around dialog level, which on a lot of stuff I work o...

Re: DAW's Suited For Sound to Picture and Film Post

1 - Set your sample rate to the correct one for film, usually 48K, but ask your clients what they are using. Bit rate is irrelevant for this, unless they are using antiquated devices which are only 16 bits. Again, ask your clients for their preferred audio format. It's important to note that a grea...
