PM1000 no likey the WIMAs

I just recapped a PM1000 channel and when I plugged it in, it sounded like everything below 800hz was being rolled off. I've narrowed it down to the filter caps (C18 in particular). When I put the Tant back in that spot, it sounds fine. I had been using an MKS20 .47/63/5.

Any thoughts?

I've got one that's been rigged to power two channels. Kind of overkill, really. I was going to recap and properly rack these modules anyway. Make me an offer!

Thanks, Brian.

No, honestly we never saw the Nathans at all even when I was working there 80+ hours a week.

And I hate to be a nudge, but Clearmountain was doing the tissue thing thang when Teddy was in jr. high.

Neither would I. I can assure you that Teddy Reilly was not the originator of the tissue on the tweeter technique.

You can do a cap job and get bette than stock caps, you can get better woofers since they don't make the NS10 woofer anymore. and the Titanium tweeters were JBL-Delco. They come with the caps, they should probly be replaced. Get a measurement device for EQ setting. The tissue is not a myth. Teddy R...

Cool new feature!!!

Sounds like your erase head ain't functioning. When looking at the heads dead on, it will be the one on the left or the first one that the tape goes across. It'll look different than the others, white maybe. Not that this info helps any.

Might be time to go digital :).

That sucker is way overkill. Get a Weller and a salty tech with rosin flux in his veins to show you how to use it. One 5 min lesson and you'll be like a machine.

SSL9K 4 Channel Preamp

I took on the SSL9K Pre that was discussed, designed, and distributed over at the Prodigy Pro Forum . This is my first real DIY and I made a few mistakes along the way, but I learned SOOOOOO much and I'm really proud of the way things are coming along. Two more channels to go, but I will say that th...
