FS: API 5500 dual EQ

Hey all, I've closed up shop for now, so selling my API 5500 dual equalizer . Works perfectly and sounds amazing. All new API 2520 op-amps. Some scuffs on the screen printing and a little rack rash as seen in the photos. $2100 plus insured shipping. (U.S. only, please). Would prefer to avoid PayPal....

Other high-end options include the Maselec MLA-3 (way, way north of $1k, but just noting another hardware unit). You'may have better luck just using and compressor with a key input and a separate eq. Now...that's just one band at a time, but it will work for most jobs. This could be worth considerin...

Man, FB can be so buggy, I have no idea.

I can tell you for my page, I have the same Category as you, "Local Business: Professional Services." And then, under Subcategories, I have "Music Production."

While logged in, if you go to your page's "About" tab, you can view/edit info. Look for the Subcategories field. When I set up the page, I believe "Music Production" was the closest available choice to audio mastering.

Totally agree. Though, I imagine some people land on the website, and click over to the FB page to look for pictures and more recent news.

Here's my page...

+1 This. Much cheaper than insuring specific pieces, and can include liability, etc.

I believe it's true, you need a Mac to run the MFiT "Mastering Tools," which include the Master for iTunes Droplet and afclip command-line tool. However, I imagine a Windows user could still create AAC's within their iTunes player, and carefully A/B with the original lossless version. FWIW, I find m...

I've heard good things about Brooklyn Phono, but haven't used them myself. I'm told they do great work, but can be a little slow on the turnaround.

Re: The poor man's Master

Hey Soundsofcallado, There can be many different goals for the mastering process, but it's safe to say whatever changes you make in your "poor man's" mastering process should improve the sound of your mixes. Definitely experiment with EQ, compression, and limiting, but be sure to maintain honesty wi...

I'm not sure why my subjective experience with Soundcheck is that it makes better-sounding masters sound worse and bad-sounding masters sound the same. I had it on pretty briefly because it made everything sound terrible. Very interesting. Well, I'd say it's completely possible Soundcheck may be le...

I think a lot of people have finally started getting the memo re "the loudness wars." I've personally been thrilled to see a shift in my clients' preferences toward more dynamic masters--trading a little level for punch and musicality. Also, the "Soundcheck" feature in the iTunes player (and iTunes ...
