It's like when people complain about how many shit-ass bands there are or how everything on TV sucks. You don't have to listen and you don't have to watch. People will like what they like and all the time you spend cutting down creativity you could be creating something yourself that someone else th...

Another thing I forgot to mention...techs are not usually known for their people skills.

Wow! That's so mean...and absolutely true. Most of us are serious losers and completely delusional about our aspirations. It's not completely unwarranted though because you've got a dream and some goals and you try to reach achieve them any way you can. Anyone with a little money can pay to go to sc...

I don't know the specifics but I know that it's different on every amp and it depends on how the pairs work together. I know that on Mesas (or at least on mine) it's either inner pair or outer pair (1/4 or 2/3) but I also know that on other amps it could be 1/2 or 3/4 in either case it shouldn't mat...

I'm not sure how to tell which circuit it is. I have the haggard '65 with all components dating '64 and I have a '66 in great condition. I'm not a collector but the '66 sounds better anyway so I thought I would stick with that and get something different to go with it.

This might be a mistake but I'm thinking of trading my more beat up '65 Bassman for a '74 Twin. I haven't played it yet. What is so bad about them and did they ever get the circuit right? I've heard that by the mid '70s the SF mistakes had been corrected...but it was too late and people thought that...

I've heard that the earlier era silverface stuff isn't as good as the later era silverface stuff...am I wrong. I thought it had to do with the techs making radical changes to most of the amps or something like that. I also know that some amp designs were never changed...deluxe?

I would go with the '56 twin but only because I really like 15" speakers for guitar. I'm also not thrilled with silverface fenders but I know that they're really starting to come into value and it'd be a pretty safe investment. As for the re-issue ac30, there was a british made ac30 re-issue that ki...

I have 2 '65 Fender Bassman heads that I use and they work great for an affordable vintage amp. One through a Weber 15" and on through a 2X12 Heppner. My Tele sounds good through both but for rythm it's a bit bright. The peaveys are nice and dark but watch out for tube rattle as the proximity of the...

You could consider re-amping the guitars. I know that Mesa has a direct out and I would wager that the bass amp does too. Re-amping is super easy and it gives a lot of flexibility with tonal adjustments. You still get the live performance but this way you might actually get a good drum sound. Becaus...

NADY just put out a "FATHEAD" type mic, the RSM-4. Ahh, Chinese manufacturing. So now you can buy your precious ribbons at Musician's Friend for $99. Blah, I hate musicians friend  . I tried to check the specs to see if they're the same mic but I couldn't find them.

I think that KennyLusk has it pretty close. Oberst I think is a fairly savy engineer as well so I wouldn't be suprised to see some kind of curve ball come up. I really hope thta someone has some insight one this.

I used a blumlein setup on a track I recorded recently. Especially with the mics a little closer (about, eh, 5 feet above the snare?), balance the image with the snare and kick bleed being center, then everything else is pretty nice. I've never thought to use Blumlein on OH. How does it work in ter...
