Tascam 38 Question - How to get the front off?
I've got a Tascam 38 that I haven't used in a long time - well, ever - it was given to me a few years ago, but was working then. I fired it up today and discovered that the take up reel hits the screws that hold the front panel on. I looked and it looks like that reel table sits lower than the other...

Re: sick of having my tape machine mistaken as a table....
I don't think that Hosa thing would hold a TSR-8 or a 38. I have couple of each here, as well as a 32 and a BR-20, all with rack ears - though none of them are rack mounted - go figure. Anyway, the rack ears for those things are like, 3/16" thick. Those machines are heavy. I know the rack mount kits...

Re: guitar cabinet bracing?
I don't know what kind of cab he's got, but most of the better 4x12's I've opened up have a brace - a piece of 1x12, essentially - going from the center of the front baffle to the center of the back cover. If your guitarist's cab doesn't have this, it would be easy to add, and should keep the cabine...

Re: Ugh. Collecting Money
The _only_ reliable way I've ever found is that they have to pay up at the end of every session. Not when the album is done. Not when the tracking is done. Not when the mixing is done. Not a certain percentage now, and then the rest at the end. After every session. Most bands don't intend to rip you...

Re: Selling PT hardware:want access to tracks afterwards. H
Right, but if I don't have PT software hardware any more will I still be able to open and get at those files? That's my concern... Thanks. You won't be able to open the PT session files; but since you exported the tracks to audio files using the method described above, you can import the audio file...

Re: protools le 9 click hell
What worked best for me in PT5 (having a built-in click is _sooo_ nice on PT6) was to download the free version of Sampletank for 0S9. It comes with (and only allows) one sound set, but they're drum sounds. So, I'd instantiate the ST plugin on an AUX, and then on the transport bar in PT, turn the cl...

Re: Getting a quicktime file from my Mac to my PC
I having trouble when exporting a movie from protools, burning it, and trying to load it onto my PC. It shows up fine on my Mac but my PC does not see it. Any help? This may or may not sound stupid to you, but did you add the .mov extension on the PC side? That may be all it needs. Or does the PC n...

Re: cakewalk pro audio 9?
Johnny, I don't have Pro Audio 9 any more, but I remember it was an option called Input Monitoring. Search the help for it, or just look through the menus to find it. Your hardware has to be able to support "full duplex" - which most sdecent cards will do. Input monitoring puts a bigger load on the ...

Re: Is anyone using a Word Clock with a Digi 002?
I recall reading about a listening test where an 888/24 slaved to a USD ranked below the 888/24 set on internal. Most listeners picked the AD8000 over the 888/24. The really interesting thing about the test was that nobody could distinguish wbetween the 888 and the Apogee AD8000 when the 888 was sl...

Re: Is anyone using a Word Clock with a Digi 002?
Okay, I've been following this, and it's fascinating. I've always thought my stuff sounded pretty good, but now I'm intrigued. So, if I've got an 888/24, a 1622, and a USD Sync, how is the clock on the USD, compared to some of these others - the Aardsync, Mini-Me, et al? Right now, I'm synching the ...

Re: 16 ohm amp, 8 ohm speaker cab **urgent**
read the title. What are my dangers. The amp is class A 15 watt tube. The Cab is a 412 with 2 8ohm inputs, in paralell. I know this is indeed something that could be dangerous to the amp, but what kinda damage are we talking? thanks guys and galios. Ideally, the impedance ought to match. Most, and ...

Re: Tascam m 208 question
I've been spoiled by the two AUX sends and returns on my Yamaha mixer, using it for stereo reverb effects like having two tracks panned hard left and right, and the effect for each track coming out of the opposite channel. Now, I noticed that the M-208 has ONE aux send and two aux returns.I have a ...

BLoodspoint, thanks a lot! that's the style of info i was looking for. Well with no phantom power could be a problem. and I'm not too keen on rca connectors. but hell, they are cheap. Looks like i'll be looking for something else. I know you said "not Mackie or Behringer", but if you're really look...

Re: Tascam M-216
Anyone make a record on a M-216m?? Here's something I posted on another forum when someone asked about these boards - was that you? ---- I used to use and still have an M208 (two of them, actually), the 8 channel version of the 216. It was okay. Drawbacks compared to today's mixers are no phantom p...
