Re: worst client ever

Perfect. Michael can give her some pointers based on his Boogie Nights role. Nothing for nothing, yesterday I managed to capture some truly spectacular between-take argument banter from my current front-runners for Most Idiotic Pseudo musicians to Ever Think They Had Any Talent and Paid Me for Stud...

Re: tascam 38/tsr 8/80-8/48/58 users look here

I have a 48, and I was wondering if one or some folks might be able to help me out here. The pictures below are one of the hubs and the disk underneath the hub which I need replaced. Anyway, the hub part number in my 48 manual is 5740003400 and measures 2.75" in diameter. the disc, or table assembl...

Re: worst client ever

This sounds like a nightmare and not worth the money. When situations like this go south-and they can go south very quickly-they can get pretty ugly. I wouldn't go near this thing at any price. I don't know about Rena, but I have to take "sub standard" customers, or I wouldn't do much business. I'd...

Re: worst client ever

One thing I will say... if you do decide to get into this, get the money up front . That "one video turned three" video shoot turned real ugly when it came time to get paid. The guy first didn't want to pay us because the invoice was for "three times as much as what you quoted me". Uh, that's becau...

Re: Splitting long PT track into 2 for seemless playback

I have this cello/piano session and the first song is 24 min. They want it bounced to 2 shorter tracks with no click or anything btw track 1 and 2, but I've been unsuccessful. I didn't record it, and there is a LOT of room noise--air conditioner and shit--so I can't fade out the first tk and fade b...

Re: question about Glyn Johns drum micing method

here you go http://www.danalexanderaudio.com/glynjohns.htm that should clear things up That does help a lot. One thing I still don't quite get from that, though is the positioning of the snare mic. If I remember the article, Glyn said he had it back from the side of the snare, sort of pointing at t...

Re: ART Processors - - Any Good for Recording?

Just the other day, my housemate and fellow musician whipped out a late 80's vintage ART multi-effects processor that isn't getting much use. I'm thinking of buying it from him for home studio use. My question, are there any really good or usable patches on these things in general (just can't remem...

Re: rudest thing you've ever said to a client...?

I've done lots of variations, more and less polite - depending on how many takes we're into - on the old "Well, if you'd play it right it would sound good", or if you want to sound like <whomever they told me they wanted to sound like on this recording>, you'll have to actually get that good, first....

Re: Oktava ribbon mic - guitar amps?

How close did you have it to that Princeton, and anybody else that's used one for guitar, how close do you dare to put it? Sean Here are some examples of my experience, your mileage may vary. For guitar, I have put it 1 ft (maybe 9 in.) away from my speaker that was being driven by a 50watt Fender ...

Re: Oktava ribbon mic - guitar amps?

I love this mic. I used it to record Frank Black, even with a bunch of other choices. On the Princeton amp cranked way up it worked really well. I have one of these, and have been happy with it on everything from voice to woodwinds, but I've been too chicken to use it on a guitar amp, because I'm s...
