Re: Mac OS and Pro Tools

I'm using Pro Tools 2018.12 on Mojave, no problems, was using 2018.10 for about a month before that.

Re: Computers/Mac

My first studio Mac was a 2000 G4 Dual 450. Used it day in and day out for 10 years without a hiccup, till I decided I had to move forward from PT 6.4.3, which was the newest the G4 would run. It still runs. It will probably run after I'm gone. I decided that since I needed a new laptop at the time ...

Re: Need some ideas on a problem with a Tascam 122Mk II

Sorry for the delay. I didn't get a notification. Got the 122 belt off of eBay. I haven't found any parts for any of my tape machines from Tascam. They seem to have stopped carrying anything older than about 10 years. That said, it's for a 122 Mk. I. I have a II, which is a direct drive. so that did...

Re: Need some ideas on a problem with a Tascam 122Mk II

Okay, so to update my own thread: I have taken the 112 apart, and found where there was a belt which is missing, and I ordered a new one for that. I also could plainly see that the transports are nowhere close in design. It's immediately apparent where the belt goes in the 112, but not the 122 Mk. I...

Re: Need help from someone who is using an ART TPS II

The pointer is opposite the flat spot. So, opposite of what's in your last illustration.

Re: Need help from someone who is using an ART TPS II

Hiya guys, I've just bought an ART TPS II 2 channel tube preamp but it is missing the variable voicing knobs. This means I have absolutely no idea where the voicing filter is set. I've noticed that there's a flat notch/surface on the knob stub (it is not entirely cylindrical) which I assume would b...

Re: Need some ideas on a problem with a Tascam 122Mk II

BTW, I did find the service manuals for both machines. Annoyingly enough, neither shows where the belts are supposed to go. I did find the remains of the flat belt in the 112, and I ordered new ones for both machines. I hope when the one for the 122 arrives, it will become apparent where it should go.

Re: Need some ideas on a problem with a Tascam 122Mk II

So, to reply to my own thread, I opened the 112 up yesterday, and learned a couple of things. First thing, and most obvious, was that no, the transports are not the same between the 122 and 112. Not even similar. Second thing was the capstan belt was broken and actually, more like "goo" than rubber,...

Need some ideas on a problem with a Tascam 122Mk II

I have a 122 Mk. II. I inherited it and a 112 from my Dad's voiceover studio. Over the last couple of years, each of them has developed some problem or another that has made it unusable, but we'll start with the 122, because it's by far the fancier machine, and I used a lot of its features. I used i...

Zack, I have a 22-2 and have a printed manual. I tried once to get the local copy shops to scan some manuals for other pieces of gear I had, and they wouldn't do it - copyright issues - but if there's something specific you need looked up, let me know.

For some reason, I didn't get notified about the last couple of replies. Anyway, just saw these and went to look and make sure there wasn't a piece of plastic blocking the tape, and there isn't on this model. Just for fun, I tried recording something again, and I'm getting weird results, so I'm goin...

I would think to record you would need either all inputs or auto inputs enabled, and to hear your playback disable it...worth a shot? Also, I found this thread with similar symptoms and the user fixed the problem with a new reel of tape. Don't know if you have any other tape to try.. http://www.tap...

I did find the manual! It is surprisingly light on detail. All is says is to put some signal into the back, arms some tracks, hit record and play, and sit back and enjoy your recorded audio. Only thing I noticed messing around with front panel buttons is that if I have "All Input" lit, the prerecord...

Okay, so, I pulled it out of the rack. I've only got 16 jacks in the back for audio. 8 input on the top, and 8 output on the bottom. Here's what I just tried. If you see what I'm doing wrong, please let me know. - I pulled the entire input harness out, and routed audio from an iPod into input 1-2. -...

I know this might be a silly question but are you sure the tape is threaded correctly? The tape path should go under the left tension arm, over the counter wheel, past the heads (obviously), through between the capstan and pinch roller, over the tape guide and under the right tension arm. Every now...
