Re: Chairs?

The chair you linked to above seems to be a cheaper version of the eChair from the Phantom Focus guy. We tried a pair and got rid of our Herman Miller chairs and bought 2 more. Thanks for the info--I'm wondering which seat size you went with. I'm 6 feet tall but with short legs for my height, so I'...

Re: Chairs?

Thanks for the tips so far. The Aeron seems to be the most common recommendation, and I grew up on chairs like that old Steelcase & have a nostalgic fondness for them--and they're definitely built to last. I was hoping I might hear from someone with experience with the "Stealth Studio Engineer's Ch...

The archive subscription is really pretty cheap, and you can just do it for a couple of months or whatever and binge-read a bunch of old articles. I did that a couple years ago and it was well worth the few bucks it cost.
The big drag is being unable to share the articles.

Re: Anybody dive into Luna yet?

Pro Tools Expert has probably the most in depth Using Luna series of videos out there so far. In this post they have included their 1st of 3. https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/production-expert-1/2020/4/6/universal-audio-luna-a-tour-of-the-new-recording-system?mc_cid=6be1f987ea&mc_eid=f0141ed989&form...

Anybody dive into Luna yet?

I downloaded it and then forgot about it.
I had a bunch of remote overdubs to do yesterday to stereo mixes sent to me.
Would have been the perfect place to start.

Anybody try it yet?

Re: Coronavirus Plans (what are yours?)

We are locked out of our commercial recording studio. All of us are doing what we can at home. Like everybody else my calendar has been wiped clean. I did start working with a guy I always wanted to work with sending stuff back and forth online and that's been pretty fun. I brought my home rig a lit...

Re: Live Off the Floor in a Small Room

Nice one.

If the players are good, it works and it goes together quick.

Bravo.

Re: Vocal Mic Bleed

Embrace it.
It can glue the track together so well.
If playing and singing is what you do record yourself playing and singing.
Singing usually dynamically affects your guitar playing.

Re: Archives

I understand where you are coming from on the expense and asking people to pay for old articles.
But people would bounce them if they could and then hopefully they get to new readers which leads even more hopefully to new subscribers.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Clever idea to use a pedal enclosure as a mic enclosure, though I have to wonder if it would sound better if the opening in front of the ribbon weren't partially blocked. It's definitely easier (and cheaper) to drill round holes than cut a larger opening. I wouldn't think the reflections caused by ...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Swart Amps decided to make a ribbon mic for recording guitar speakers. It's handmade in Wilmington, DE. I ordered one and got it. Really nice piece. Used it on a guitar cabinet and a piano yesterday at the studio and really liked it a lot. They are still running a $100 off introductory offer. http:/...

I forgot to ask any questions and no one mentioned Jim. Seems crazy, looking back.
Indeed.
If I was Jim I would have been at least a little shocked to read that.

Re: Interview Idea

I read all the Wilco/Tweedy/Loft stories and was scratching my head how there could be that much coverage and not even one mention of Jim Scott?
He worked on so many albums with them. Helped them find gear and develop/upgrade The Loft.

What gives?
