Firestudio is a bit overkill if all you want is the pres. I personally really like the firespod's pre's. And for under 400 bucks new you can't go wrong. Not to mention a lot of those come with a bunch of software so I'm sure you could find a used one with no software on eBay for even cheaper.

The Shape Of Jazz To Come is a fantastic album. And that's something coming from someone who despises most free jazz. I just love that album for some reason.

Ornette Coleman is really generally the only free jazz I can listen to.

really? wow that's crazy. So I guess buying drums off of ebay is a total gamble even if the sets is in great condition. Same goes for horns. I have literally played the exact same model of horn and had 2 completely different sounds. When the tone is being generated by the actual material of the hor...

Beat me to it.

Take contact mics and wrap them around the next so they are over the voicebox and vocal chords. I can't wait to try this one.

dwlb is on the right track. I remember singing in shoir in HS and college. When we hd an extended 'EEE' we were taught to make the inside of our mouths like we were making an 'OH" and make the slight variation with out lips to produce the "eeee" Good Luck, extended "EEE" sounds are rarely pretty. A...

I'm a big fan of only using DI bass so don't worry about it if it sounds great. I like the idea of a room mic on the drums. Sometimes weird basements have cool room sounds. One super important thing to remember: Take lots of time to tune the drums. It's going to create a lot less conflicting overton...

They had a recent one on Discovery Channel on that show "How It's Made". I still think it's the coolest thing ever.

I'm making some speaker mics out of some crappy wireless speakers I got.

Just need to get an XLR cable and borrow my friends soldering iron.

If she's not used to playing with headphones and you think that's the problem just have her take one of the earpieces off.

I don't know if she's told you this but flute takes more air support to play than a tuba so those big breaths might actually be necessary if she wants to get a sound.

Our guitarist uses a new fender. I can't remember the model number however I do know it's not a tube amp(he can't afford one) and it does have two speakers. It also has a very nice sound although I'm not a huge fan of it when he distorts it. The clean sound is just sexy when he plays around with it ...

Yeah I'm slowly finding out I'm going to have to be a crap load more patient than I thought. And I meant "just for the record" as in the saying. Not a switch for recording. It came with 2 cans of Hammond oil. I think I'm going to sit around with a friend and oil it up really good this Saturday...
