 everybody currently working on a record that sounds kinda like this raise hands... although the lyrical themes may be a bit different... excellent period piece & the key modulations in mass emanuel are rad. I must build a plate verb in my house... who needs a water heater when the cabinet is a...

worth the dough, yup.
Cool. The SHR840's fit my big 'ol skull & ears, comfortable for loooooong hours. The sound strikes me like the AKG K240 family way more than the Yamaha V and MDR range, if that makes sense. Seems I'm getting a pretty wide, balanced behaviour overall, nice low & upper-mid detail to dig into. More lik...

Hey Wagz- definitely good additions to the discussion. I've mixed stuff in client's houses/etc with RP5's, and I reckon I'm lucky to've been mixing for a zillion years now... so I DON'T want to sound like a know-it-all-- 'cos I'm not! But I guess I've sort of internalized how stuff will translate (t...

No brainer, Wharfedales, $149 each. http://www.zzounds.com/item--WHADP82A seconded. i've been using mine for 5 years now. I'd give a 3rd 'yep!' to the Wharfedales... I thought they were sounding really dark in my new mad-max of a home edit room, but realized I've just got tooo much 4" ultratouch on...

great info, y'all! Yeah, boy the 15-ish years I co-owned a studio, MAN did we go through the 'phones like they were disposable... so many re-soldered connectors, blown drivers, stepped on, fallen on, soaked with booze or coffee or bong water...one pair dropped in the toilet, etc etc. Definitely inte...

anybody use these Shure SRH840 'phones, reviewed in new 'op?
I've always had a hezzle of a time finding somewhat neutral sounding 'phones that fit my apparently abnormally fat skull & ears.... I LOVE the sound of yer basic akg k240's, mostly since I'm so used to them and they're fairly comfy. But after an hour or two, I gotta quit 'cos my external ear bits hu...

Hey I take it yer in Chicago-land?, but this joint in Portland Oregon with 2 stores might have what thou seekest, and hopefully for less $$, plus they'll ship. (disclaimer: my wife manages the joint, but I don't get any dough or anything for suggesting them... they just usually have a great assortme...

You'll have an easy time goin back and forth. Though PT 8 does look a little different than 7.x on both LE and HD, so you might want to get into vs. 8 when you can. I take LE sessions into HD and back all the time, and your sessions will just give you a prompt when you open 'em on whichever other ve...

ohhhh man, be careful what ideas you put out into the ether :D jeez I betcha we'll see a plugin that does that within a couple years, like those plugs that'll scan the freq. distribution/content of a track or mix and overlay it on another.... so use that with some algorithmic composition software, p...
