Controlling Pro Tools with voice commands
hey y'all- i searched for a similar thread but haven't found one. i'm just starting to mess with the built-in osx 10.6.2 Speech Recognition & controlling (at least) keyboard shortcuts. Mixed success, my scripting isn't that great plus i was initially trying to get it to work with Gaeilge (irish lang...

Dakota-- yep indeed, it's seeming like the way to go, I've got some other preamps and etc if I'm looking for a less-neutral tone to go with the 003, so I'm cool with having the built-ins be uncolored-- and just better/truer sounding. Hah, yeah Trodden, I still have the other 001 and G4, unmodded but...

well, I think that sorts it...
get the mixes close to finished and then do the finals at a well-equipped studio here in pdx A logistic not mentioned yet: with doing freelance work on sessions that are going from your home place back and forth to PTHD studios, if those sessions are above 48k and your 003 is stock and you've been ...

great info y'all as always. Yep, like PT said I got the 003 via an upgrade deal; well, the clients (the ones that sent me the 50+ track sessions) bought it for me towards my project fee... whenever possible, I do editing/track thinning/etc at home; get the mixes close to finished and then do the fin...

... A Lynx Aurora (what I'd get to feed the 003 ADAT) will certainly be more expensive, but the BLA mods seem horribly marked up for what probably amounts to very little in component costs. Can't polish a turd.. And I think part of the problem is you need to trim the fat...50+ tracks of shit doesn'...

BLA mod for DIGI 003, or RME ADI-2 & save the extra $ ?
So I reckon that doing the full BLA mod for my rack 003 would kill several issues at once; but I'm seeking opinions on going with an ADI-2 (or other suggestions for an ad/da in similar $ range) & saving the extra cash... I have some decent external pre's & will be receiving a pair of series 1 Neotek...

:o omg! I thought I was the only person to do this! I play kit always with timbal? sticks (double-butt ended & thinner/more flexi than regular drum sticks) 'cos they're easier on the hands/wrists due to the flexi-ness (yeah, that's a word now ha). One time years back I needed to do some cymbal cresc...

making progress prettifying this room... barely...
cool y'all. I've tidied up the joint some, under the gun to get this project mixed... and already started edits on 2 others, 'tis a blessing to be busy, yeah? So the room still pretty much looks like it was decorated by mushroom-tripping smurfs... When it's all prettified I'll put up other pics for ...

--Shields up-- I think that the early electric Miles albums (Bitches Brew, et al) sound terrible. Let me qualify that. I think they sound terrible compared to the last Miles acoustic quintet albums (Nefertiti, ESP, etc). Those quintet albums sound like they were recorded yesterday, while the electr...

jg- cool yo, thanks. I'd somehow missed those 2 links. I've seen the 'new york dave' schematics & various threads on his designs, but not the 1st link where author got -80 noise & -88 x-talk. Those are workable numbers for sure, though true they'd vary based on total channels & resistor values used....

invalidink- hah! yep it will look much better when covered w/fabric, that's the plan & will mount all more neatly on the cedar latticing but had to get on with mixing a project so will be covering/tidying up in a couple weeks.... or when this project is done! Translation has been quite good even wit...

any oppers building passive summing mixers?
Yep I know there's a whole lotta debate viz. ITB vs. OTB mixing. And I've mixed a hundred or more projects ITB, but prefer going out when possible. Thanks to Overt Clam here on the board, I've got a pair of series 1 Neotek elite channels coming soon, re-capped & with cinemag x-formers switchable i/o...

My wife & I just moved into a little house of our own, and I HAD to get to work immediately on mixing a cool rawk band from dublin (the Hassle Merchants). Haven't had time to make it pretty, but less than $300 for a buncha UltraTouch denim fiber insulation, some scrap wood & some cedar garden lattic...
