Is this the first time "Guess I'm Falling in Love" has been heard with lyrics? Crazy! No, this version was on the "Peel Slowly & See" box set, along with an instrumental from the same show, titled "Booker T". Nevertheless, great stuff any way you slice it. "I'm Not A Young Man Anymore" sounds great...

Wilco:American Music Club as boy:man.

"Everclear" and "Mercury" are non-debatable masterpieces. Glad to see the advocacy here for a great band.

I'll have to give "Bachelor" another listen... when it came out I bought it, but it really didn't live up to "Whatever" or "I'm With Stupid". A little more dense than I like, and most of the songs were a little too similar to each other. You don't have to do the same big production on every song on...

or the solo catalog of Mick Jagger. "Wandering Spirit" from '93 is a fantastic album, probably the strongest Stones-related release since "Tattoo You". If more alt-country bands could write a song as strong as "Evening Gown", then they'd be on to something. Otherwise, Jagger's solo work is fair gam...

Kleenex is to tissue what Shubb is to capos... :P

Seriously, Shubbs are brilliant in design and execution, I have at least 5, including one configured for my "vintage" radius 52ri Telecaster. I give 'em as Christmas/birthday gifts to musician friends.

I need some fresh air.

Re: Classic marshall sounds (for recording)

I saw Dinosaur Jr. live at the Washington St. 40-watt in Athens in 1991; it was the loudest show i've ever experienced...I mean pummeling loud (and i've seen a lot of shows from coffeehouse to arena)! I was drunk off my ass but still had the requisite survival instincts to flee for fear of permanent...

Re: your favorite Makeout Music

Roxy Music's "Avalon" was the go-to platter for me in my bachelor days, & "Astral Weeks" is/was perfect for dawn snogging.. your results may vary.

I also enjoyed a robust interlude to the strains of Sonic Youth's "Goo"... i'll leave the details to your imagination...

... also it wouldn't hurt TO BE THE BEST FRIGGIN ROCK AND ROLL SINGER EVER! From 1962 to 1966, no one could touch 'im vocally. Late Beatles & solo, he seemed to be, to paraphrase Bob Dylan, trying to do consciously what he once did unconsciously... IMHO. Most pics show him singing into a U-47, and ...

Robert Quine, RIP

Robert Quine has died; I thought this would be of interest to this forum. His work w/ Richard Hell & the Voidoids, Lou Reed, & Matthew Sweet always impressed me greatly; he was a big influence. Below are links to Billboard news report, and his website, FYI. jdparris http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily...
