I appreciate all the fast responses. It's good to hear that so many musicians still don't feel they need a car in the city.
I have always wished that I didn't need a car, so it's a great thing to hear.

gigs in NYC
Just curious if there are any alternatives to owning a vehicle if one was to live and gig in the city? Do you just have to have a van or use taxi's? Cant imagine carrying a whole band's equipment to a gig on a subway or bus, but I"m thinking perhaps there might be other options.

adding direct outs to a board
I'm using my soundcraft spirit E12 as a front end for a DAW set-up. I send all the microphones through the mixer, and I've been taking the signal out of the insert jack and into my interface, but it would be great if I had the option to send a signal that also included my board's eq section. Is it c...

Yeah, I don't follow how a trs patch bay is anything like a snake, except that both can pass signal. I'm looking to get headphone signals to musicians that are not in the control room, so I need a bundle of cables that will carry a headphone signal and terminate to a box that the musician can plug h...

Headphone snakes?
Once upon a time, I interned at a studio that ran their headphone mixes through a dedicated snake. It seems like a simple concept - basically a stage snake, but one that only has TRS jacks and no XLR's. I'm thinking of either 4 or 6 channels in the snake. Does anyone know of someone who has such a s...

I definitely believe in martin. I interned at a studio that had a low end martin that was about 5 years old. You could practically just slap an LDC infront of that guitar and get a beautiful stummed or finger picked sound. I worked some with a higher end taylor and a few other guitars that were way ...

Asheville, NC - Smashing Guitars 103 Broadway St. - Guitar Trader 732 Haywood Rd. Both these stores focus more on used instruments/amps, but I've come across a little pro audio gear every now and then at these stores. Are you on tour with someone? If you're playing in Asheville, I'll try and come ou...
