Electrician needed for Portland studio

Does anyone have suggestions for an electrician in the Portland, OR area that has experience with studios, particularly with regard to noise issues? My home studio is near several very large radio towers and the electrical in my studio has some DIY elements from the previous owner. I've been struggl...

No problems, durable

I've had pretty good experiences with the S8 3 way. I usually use it to try a few different mic pres on the same signal. Never noticed any obvious shortcomings, but I haven't tried it with drums or heavy low end signal that could tax the transformers.

More info on Ferrites, including source

I've had a heck of a time with RFI at my studio as well. I'm near several big radio towers. In my case, the main problems are with FM. My biggest success in filtering out the RFI has been with ferrites, usually on my audio cables. The ones at Radio Shack may work, but it's a gamble because they usua...

The board includes the ARMS automation system and the computer. I have not seen the computer in action, so I can't vouch for it's functionality.

8 track>4 track

re: Can the 5050 8 track turn into a 4 track with the 4 track head. I'm not sure. I'm not super experienced with tape machines, so take this opinon FWIW, but I would guess the answer is no, because the MX 5050 is from a different series than the MTR machines. I'll see if I can pull a part number off...

Parallel compression in Logic 8-disclosure triangle=wet/dry

Someone mentioned that in Logic 8 you can use the wet/dry slider on the compressor, as an alternative to the dual bussing technique. I believe you have to click the disclosure triangle on the bottom of the compressor GUI to see the wet/dry slider, which is part of the "extended parameters". Dependin...

Power conditioning/isolation clarification

Can you please give an example of a proper power conditioning unit/system? Prior to posting, I added a Monster 3500 Power Center (and all gear is plugged into it, though I had to use additional power strips), and this improved both the radio interference and hum quite a bit, but the problems persist...

more krk hum

I am currently trying to solve a combination of hum and radio transmissions coming out of my monitors. I have genelec 1031a, and a KRK S12 sub. When I add the sub, both the hum and the radio interference gets louder (meaning if I plug the main speaker outputs of my mixer directly into the 1031s, it'...
