I've talked to Scott from ADK on the Sonar boards a lot. he knows of what he speaks. He does not suffer fools. He is quick to point out when other companies are selling as "audio computers" last years old tech. I would imagine he would have a deal on a intel945 667 bus laptop these days as I am sure...

I think some of the errors in using mixers/pres with digital converters branches off of the use of certain live sound mixers that also can be used for home studio recording. These mixers sounds thin and weak when set conservatively but open up when fed larger signals. I also had been raised on the a...

In theory Sonar 6.2 and later should support ginourmous files if you are 64 bit. But the state of 64 bit drivers makes me wonder.

i have to say I have loved teh Fm7 forever. I used the demo for a while then went and bought a beat DX27. Wow, talk about impossible to program. sound quality aside, the FM7 and I assume FM8 is about 1000 times easier to use than the real thing.

I had a 77Dx for about 2 years. It was on loan from someone. The pedigree on that mic was vague to say the least. Though it was at one point supposed to have belonged to Lucasfilm. It distorted a little bit, though. I looked up some stuff on the then tiny internet (this was like 1990) and figured ou...

Mine was clean as heck. Has this weird suede-y material inside for resonance damping? ANd it has a front p...

I know a multi-instrumentalist guy up in northern california. He can play drums, bass and clarinet pretty much better than most people you have ever heard. he can blow most other things just as good as anybody else. His drumming is so good it elevates the level of everybodies playing. He can not play...

SoNaR

I started composing on tapes, dubbing back and forth between cassettes, and later reels to build things. Then I got into bands and everybody thought I was crazy because I had pretty much taught myself music that way. In bands there is an illusion of democracy, but most of the time one guy writes eve...

thats pretty much what I end up using my PM180 for. It can run mic or line level, but it really excels at stuff like drum machines and synths that get all brittle going into DAW land. I pretty much never use the EQ on mine except to hipass. And 4 of its channels are SE direct outs so they only hit o...
