Help identifying / any ideas for this amp?

I found about 6 of these at a surplus store in a rackmount chassis for $10. They are Honeywell "Direct Playback Amplifiers". They have edge connectors on the back that plug into the chassis, which still has all the signal and power supply wiring intact! I think maybe these are line amps or preamps f...

Wow, you guys all gave me some great ideas in this thread - going back to recording to 2-track especially! As far as smoking that shit goes, I started getting super paranoid about a year ago, so I just quit. I'll be 24 next week, so it looks like I'm quitting in the same time frame as a lot of you d...

What kind of meters does the Bluetube have? Are the inputs on the front or back?

I know they changed both of those around at some point...

Allmusic tends to get a little bit like Wikipedia around the fringes. I mean, when it comes to "rare" or "small-time" bands, it's kind of hit or miss as far as being objective goes. I did find some stuff about Joe Dochtermann's band when I Googled him. So I guess his credentials are that he co-wrote...

Check out this picture on garysun's website. Look carefully at the mic above the low tom. It looks like a 421, but it's being used as if it were a side-address mic. From what I recall, you point the "Sennheiser" logo on the front of the grill at what you want to pick up (ie, the capsule points along...

Strange "book" on eBay - "Pro Techniques for

I found this while searching for something else on eBay. The auction has a bunch of different titles, such as "So you bought a Neumann U87...", "So you bought an AKG 451...", etc. It's a sort of self-help book for home recording, I guess you could say. What you are buying is a bunch of PDF files wit...

This won't answer the question you are really after, but .... I bought a Delta 44 in January, and I'm really please with the quality (24/96 into Steinberg's Wavelab). To answer your question more directly, here's one problem you might run into: I have never seen a piece of audio software that recogn...

I know moving stuff around on the M12 wasn't that big of a deal. I was being overly dramatic. It would be much easier to create said vocal submix using real busses though. If you've got the mix pretty much down, but want to comp. those tracks, it sucks to have to rotate the Aux pots to a position th...

Well, You'e got two stereo busses at least: 1/2 and 3/4 (which is the same as L/R, maybe...). Again, more options than the Soundcraft M12 I used to have. After using busses at internships and jobs in "real" studios, and then getting a board with them at home, I don't think I can ever go back. I love...

I'm not sure of the market for a lot of this stuff, but it doesn't seem like many of these are really steals.

Sounds kind of fishy, too. Who knows, it's "only Craigslist".

I can't find any good close up pictures on the interweb ... could you post some? Maybe a close up of a channel assign area, and the master section... I did notice that The VUs are: 1, 2, 3/L, 4/R. Maybe the L/R buss gets its signal from busses 3/4. Like they are clones. But that doesn't make sense. ...

I have an M-312B, so I can answer your questions by inference. My answers might not be right exactly right. On each channel there are buttons for assigning to busses 1, 2, 3, and 4, AND there is a button to assign the channel to the L/R mix. Maybe you are missing that. Also there are channel ON butt...

This guy has all kinds of stuff for sale: MPCs, mics, monitors, etc, etc. I don't know who he is, just thought I'd pass this along to Portland area folks.
