Nearfield Monitors to compliment JBL LSR28P's
I currently own a set of JBL LSR28P monitors that I have used for years. http://media.soundonsound.com/sos/apr99/images/jbllsr28p.gif SoS Review I have always recognized their short comings (over saturation in the lower mid-range) but have actually found them useful for the rather loud tracking sess...

Re: how to make quality mp3s
it is just as easy to make an mp3 on a pc as it is in itunes. This is just an overly complicated post.

Re: VST System Link in Cubase SX, 1010LT<>DIO2448
I have had success with SLINK, but it was a hair puller, and at times I need to restart the cpu's (or just the program). Each soundcard seems to behave differently, I am lucky to have two identical soundcards, and that probably helps a lot, though it should not. SLINK does not pass audio, however yo...

Re: Is there really that much difference between 20 and 24 b
Well the old saying goes "Crap in=crap out". I am not at all saying that 20 bit is crap, just better is better. I would imagine that your system may begin to be limited with only 96 mb of ram. So get the 20 bit system for that particular cpu. However new computers with much more ram are almost as in...

Re: Going soft! any suggestions?
I highly doubt that reason will ever have audio in or midi out as that would step on quite a few toes (other companies). Not to mention that it would severly affect overall performance.

Re: some info I thought may be helpfull
You may want to change the subject of your post to something that will be searchable.
Nice of you to help out others with such detail.

Re: cubase midi "no more mixer channels" message
Which version of Cubase do you have? This should not happen with SX. However on a Mac I am not sure. I have seen it on older versions of Cubase when running Reason.

Re: how do I do this?
Get Kontakt by Native Instruments and run it inside Sonar as a DXInstrument if you need to play keymapped samples such as piano, organ ect.
Otherwise you can load the samples into Fruity and trigger them from there. How this is exactly done I am not sure. However I know it can be done.

Re: Making Your Own Vintage Gear.
I guess I am just used to J.H. bringing up "how the valueable is your time" perspective. While that is a big concern for "pros" like him, I often do things just to learn or for fun. I am also lucky to have quite a few second hand electronics stores in the region that can help me keep costs low on ce...

Making Your Own Vintage Gear.
So does anyone here make their own vintage gear? After a long night of surfing I came across quite a bit of info on building the much loved but often not afforded pieces of gear. Don't get me wrong, I know one must have some knowledge of electronics and fabrication. As well as several other handy sk...

Re: What are You Mixing Down to?
I have found that using digital connections often yields the poorest results on any piece of gear. In my studio, I am afforded the option of going from say my digital mixer into a laptop, over spdif/aes-ebu directly into one of several 2-track programs. Then I have the option of going into that same...

Re: Mackie HDR 24/96
Editing on an hdr only scratches the surface, but I have a story for ya: My buddy was recording a rather large budget live recording with a full ProTools system. He has mass PT experiance but decided it would be wise to have Mackies running in the background as a safety. Good thing too, the PT rig c...
