Need band for Cleveland show, 4/4
hey everyone My band, Creeping Weeds (Philly psych, rock, etc) and our tourmates, BOAT (Seattle sloppy pop), are playing at Now That's Class in Cleveland on Monday, 4/4 as part of our tour. Our one Cleveland connection wasn't able to join us, so I wanted to see if anyone here would be interested (or...

I think Meathands makes a great point about business-class machines, HP and Lenovo in particular. They tend to have less crap on them and better warranties & build quality. (Plus matte screens). I don't think you can go wrong with this. It's a really good deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product....

recently, i've had some luck with fairly heavy compression combined with some type of distortion/saturation and hi-passing at 80Hz. The hi-pass eliminates some of that low end "bloom" and the distortion adds the harmonic content to make it stand out. Also, sometimes some transient shaping after the ...

no idea how to work the quote thing, but the mid-side technique Brian mentioned has me interested. I really haven't done and mid-side mixing, so to speak. only mid-side micing for drums and a couple guitars. are you talking about running the entire chorus, for example, through a compressor that can ...

wow. lots great stuff to try here. can't wait to get back in the studio. just to answer a few questions. I'm mixing in the box using REAPER. Really, the only outboard effects I have besides compression is an old Tascam spring reverb. I use it a lot actually - it sounds pretty awesome. sometimes we'l...

the scum, i'll have to try using some pre-fader sends. i've always defaulted to post fader, thinking i'd want the fx levels to follow my levels adjustments. what your suggesting makes a lot of sense to me our tracking room is pretty interesting. it's a rectangle about 12 x 20. i've treated it with s...

i think global reverb might not have been the best term. what i meant was i usually have a send with a relatively short plate (.8 sec) or something that i might send the gits to, along with maybe a little bit of the vox or drums. but not everthing. this is in addition to specific verbs for individua...

Three dimensional mixes?
hey everyone - i'm looking for some tips on getting my mixes to sound a little more three dimensional. I tried doing a search, but didn't have much luck. anyway, my mixes seem to be well balanced in terms of levels, panning and frequency, but in comparsion to a lot of commercially released music, i ...
