Thanks for all the ears, guys. The snare was a 13" Pork Pie acrylic drum so that might explain some of the sounds regarding that. I hear you regarding the vocals but they wanted a 'sloppy' double tracked sound. Hey, they're the client! :D Here is the final mix I presented the band with. Thank you ag...

Too much bass?

I don't think that the bass is too overpowering but a fresh set of ears would be nice.

Any other observations would be cool too, I really appreciate any thoughts. Thank you so much, everyone.

Re: Ludwig 26x14 Kick Drum Sample

I recorded a Ludwig Green Sparkle drum kit with a 26x14 kick drum. The overall sound turned out really great, but the individual kick drum mic didn't turn out like I wanted it to. Just curious; what did you want the individual drum mic track to sound like? I've had several individual tracks that di...

Re: Chris Shaw, Re: Bob Dylan's Desire

But I have to admit, my jaw dropped when Chris said that Desire was Dylan's 'Worst-sounding' record. Are you kidding me? I absolutely love the sound of that record. Its got this incredibly organic, gooey, 'big room' quality to it- but you can still hear everything clear. Dylan's vocals are still ri...

Seconded. Sometimes their interviews can be real hit-or-miss but for this area of interest I think it's worth a shot!

Save the rest of the fund to set up your Waves blackmail fund, and make regular donations to it  Yup. I bought the Platinum back in 2005 and have enjoyed it, no doubt, but was kinda astounded to learn it would cost me over $200 to 'upgrade' to Snow Leopard. So I'm really subscribing to the 'i...

^^^ agreed.

Use a sample that accentuates what your original track is lacking and vice versa. Mix to taste.

Fantastic program!

Although I use Pro Tools in my studio, I run Reaper on my laptop for fun, remixing stuff and *gasp* vari-speed on a DAW!

And yeah, the people that run it are a huge reason to buy into it. Thumbs up.

What do you think about rough mixes? If the band in question runs out of time and/or has a lengthy drive back home from your studio, they ask if you can burn down rough mixes and send them as MP3's. If I'm going to tack it on to their ongoing tab, I don't see any problem with this. But yeah, I'm sta...
