The last paragraph is the best Playing Their Part Despite all of the different techniques, tools and technology, without a doubt the most important element when seeking great drum tracks is using a great drummer. ?Engineers often make the mistake of thinking there?s something special about the craf...

Kinda figured as much. Thanks for checking though. I don't use it too often anyway, it was just nice to have it there.

Anything like Logic Nodes?

So I'm moving away from Logic as a whole, the reasons are not worth discussing here right now, but I'm wondering if there's anything else out there with the functionality of distributed computing like Logic has? It does have to be on a Mac, but I'd be curious if there's anything on Windows as well, ...

Also, I was reading someones educated guess that: "DC can't get through a transformer's windings, but switching transients can. So by itself 48V of phantom power can't kill a ribbon mic but my guess is that when you hit the 48V phantom power switch this creates a huge 0 to 48V switching pulse which...

Depends on when you buy. If you were to buy a brand new (as in model refresh) Mac Pro, you'll probably spend less than a comparatively spec'd Dell, HP, or most other major manufacturers and get much better customer support (general statements) so long as you don't decide to have Apple upgrade your ...

Apology accepted. I think you have hit your issue in the head : "The point is, we only have a giant, fancy mouse as a mixer. " Maybe try to get a controller for the Pro Tools faders, being as you have your own feed that does not affect the performance. The D-Command is a control surface, it just ha...

Maybe if you had started with this detailed information, you might have gotten a totally different response. I generally thought people would ask before jumping to conclusions, but I can see why some wouldn't, especially given that I stated myself to be "not that well versed in PT". Sorry. In the f...

Re: Any Hackintosh users?

Okay just a disclaimer... I am not interested in starting a debate about Mac vs PC or the actual ethics of building a Hackintosh system I think discussing this on this board is uncool. You're putting TOMB at risk by discussing how to accomplish illegal things here. Personally, I'm cool with you hac...

Macs themselves are artificially overpriced and Apple does not offer a middle ground system that comes in a tower format that is in my budget....if the iMac came in a tower format I'd buy it. Depends on when you buy. If you were to buy a brand new (as in model refresh) Mac Pro, you'll probably spen...

FIRST OFF, I NOT [/u][/i] printing final mixes here! There is such a thing as a straight to 2 track mix, and that's the point of this! Second of all, this is a live concert (pretty much all we do here), the only reason I'm soloing a track is to check if something's wrong (like when one of our SM81s ...

Yeah, I'm running a Hackintosh with my Fireface 800 and Logic Studio. I haven't run Pro Tools on it, and no know that I personally know in the Hackintosh community has. That being said, you REALLY have to choose your parts carefully. Insanely Mac (formerly osx86 project) is a wonderful resource that...

Adjusting Pro Tools Sends

I'm not that well versed in PT, but I was wondering if anyone knew a way to set the sends in Pro Tools to be pre-solo? The situation is that we do a lot of long recordings that require mostly set and forget mixes with the occasional adjustment for soloists (jazz setting), but if we use Pro Tools (wh...
