I have the same problem... low celings, small room... I've had good results putting up A LOT of bass traps & floating some OC703 above the drum kit... cover the celing in that stuff & it'll help it disapear in your mics... heavy blankets on the walls help too I've also had good luck asking drummers ...

yeah it really excells on synths too.
